When I had my first child I had no idea I could love someone so much. I would be so excited for that little girl to wake up so I could hold her tight, snuggle her, kiss her little face and toes. She had my whole heart. This worried me when we found out we were pregnant with child number 2. There would be no way that I could love another person as much as my sweet baby girl. How would this affect my next child, they would know that there wasn't as much love for them as our first. I was scared .
Little did I know that God created our hearts to have an infinite about of love waiting to be given. Suddenly I am in love with daughter number 2 just as much as the first. Same thing with child # 3 and #4. With every child, my heart produced more unconditional love. I love them each for their own special qualities, their uniqueness and for each individual personalities but the amount of love is the same. Having our second angel didn't mean I loved our first angel any less, it just meant my heart was capable of more love.
I think we are that way with each other, if I love someone new, does this mean I love someone else less? Never, it just means that your heart is capable of holding more love than you thought. With every person we love, we love them for their own reason, their own individuality, their own gift. We will never love two people for the exact same reason, no two are alike. We can fall in love with one person for their quietness and another for their boldness. We can fall in love with someones sense of humor and anothers seriousness. Everyone gives to us what we need, what we seek and what we love, and we give them the same in return.
Never be afraid to love someone out of fear of losing love for someone else, that won't happen. I believe that once we truly love someone, it never dies. True love lasts forever, we just are able to make room for more.
