Hard Work

Yesterday,  I watched as my Mom stood and walked out of her hospital room, down the hallway and back.   No big deal, right?  To us it was, she had back surgery less than 36 hour prior and the fact that she stood up straight to walk made my eyes fill with tears and my heart with pride.  For several years, my mom has been hunched over so much that her head was almost always facing the ground.  Yesterday, she was determined to make sure this surgery was a success, she was in horrible pain, you could see it on her face but she wasn't about to give up.  This is how my mom has lived her life, determined to never give up.  I'm seeing now where I have gotten that spirit from.  I am so proud of my Mom, she will work as hard as she needs to over the next year to recover and regain the use of her back, the proper way.  She knows, being a nurse, what lies ahead.  She knows the hard work that it will take, the pain she will endure and the patience she will have to have to make sure she is doing all she can to strengthen and heal herself.    She inspires me.   

Hard work is something that life takes, be it career, health, relationships, emotional and physical well being.  Hard work is necessary.    It would be nice to have it easy but what fun is that??   I kid of course, that would be great but it's not reality.  Reality is, if it's worth it, ya gotta work it.  

I don't take for granted where I am today,  I've been working hard to grow and open my mind and heart to what I need to change in my life.  I've struggled to see myself as others have and I will continue to struggle but the undertaking is worth it becauseI am worth it.   

I deserve no less than others, YOU deserve no less than others.   What may seem to come easy to them is probably something they have been working hard on.  What they see as easy for you, it's what you've been laboring on.   Life is hard, for all of us, we just need to choose what is worth our effort.    Don't give up because something isn't coming quickly or effortlessly,  just remind yourself,  the harder it is to get there, the more wonderful it'll be to be there.  You can do this, you're worth it.
