Thanksgiving
It was a rather nice day, we were so impressed with ourselves , by noon we were way ahead of the game so we popped out the champagne and oj and made a few mimosas. We laughed and talked, just my girls and I. The boys headed over and we all enjoyed watching a movie and making dinner . Laughter and love filled the house, something I've longed for, what a great day........
Anything that can go wrong always does the week of Thanksgiving, or at least the last 3 or 4. 2 hours into baking the turkey my daughter asked why the oven temp was set at 216°, was that what I normally cooked turkey at? Seriously? The new oven that replaced the one that was toast 2 years ago the week of Thanksgiving is fucking malfunctioning? Oh dear lord, I've got 20 people heading here in 3 hours....WTH!! 20? Yes, what started as 9 the past 3 days has turned into to 20. Oh freakin joy, now what to do? Bad enough the gas fireplace stopped working yesterday and the garage door only works when being closed, no lights outside because those decided to turn off permanently, but the oven? No sweet baby Jesus, I need the oven. So I prayed for God to fix the oven as my sweet daughters looked on and sighed, saying "God doesn't do appliances". Today they were right, God didn't fix my oven....so they took the par-baked food to their Dad's and saved Thanksgiving.
I paused, I breathed and I was the calm in the storm. We laughed it off and knew that the oven didn't matter, we were together and happy. My ex and his family arrived (yes, I made dinner for my ex husband and his brothers and their families ) and we had a great time. My children requested that this Thanksgiving be spent with his family so I made it happen, knowing how much it would mean to my children and my ex.
I am blessed, I am so very blessed
