Apples To Oranges

I've always been really good at comparing myself to others, always comparing myself  in a negative light, not understanding how unique and special I really am.  When we compare ourselves to others we will always feel defeated, we will always feel not enough, we will always feel unworthy, no matter the circumstance.  We cannot see the challenges the others fight,  or the lost hopes and dreams they are mourning.  We cannot see how they look at themselves in the mirror and wish they too were someone else.  Who we compare ourselves to aren't really who they are, it's who they want and need the world to see.

You see, each of us have things we wish to change, we wish to have more of, we wish to be, yet those whom we wish we were, are thinking the same thing.  We are each made to be solely ourselves, we are each unique and wonderfully made.  We were made to be exactly who God wanted us to be and to wish to be someone else just isn't fair to ourselves.

We need to stop comparing others also.  We need to allow people to be themselves without scrutiny or judgment.  It is painful to be the one who fails the comparison, to be criticized for not being like someone else when I was created to be only me.  It is unfair to both people that you are putting side by side and it is also unfair to you, the one doing the act, you will never truly get to know the person if you are always looking for similarities to another.

We need to learn to be ok with what we have and don't have, what we can and cannot do but most importantly who we truly and authentically are.  Don't sell yourself short because you THINK someone has it better, they just have it differently.
