God's plan

I had a friend call me today, she said she needed a prayer but felt maybe it was too small, I told her that there is never a prayer too small for God, nothing too insignificant in his eyes.  She proceeded to tell me that the refrigerator was in the contract on her home that she just sold, it had stopped working and the repairman said it would be $800 to fix it.   First let me say, I don't think my fridge even cost $800 let alone a repair bill for that.....it seems to cost more to fix an appliance now a days than to replace one.  Those were her thoughts too, so she went on to tell me that the repair man said if she did x and x and x, it could possibly "heal" itself for 6 months or so.   Perfect, by then, the new owners will be in the house and have their 5 year warranty and can get a new refrigerator.   So she asked me to pray that the compressor valve would heal itself and be fine for a few months, absolutely, as she spoke, I began to pray.   Now mind you, she doesn't want the new owners to have to deal with it yet she knows that they will benefit in the end if that sucker goes to pot a few months after they move in.   She's excited, they are what she invisioned the family buying her home would be.  She wants them to make the memories and the happy times that she and her husband had.  She wants them to raise their children there as she did and I know she prays health upon them so they do not have to endure what she has by losing her spouse.   She's a prayer warriors, I don't think she'd admit it, yet she is.

She is part of the group of women I have mentioned whom I met at the ladies retreat that I so very much didn't want to go on.   I had met her before, she and my daughter had taken a mission trip to Costa Rica and I had been on mission trips with her daughter but she and I never had a chance to connect until last year's retreat. Thank God we did, this group of women have formed an incredible bond.  We speak to each other daily, we pray for each other daily, we reach out to those who we know are having a hard time and we let them know that they are loved and that they are prayed for.  I'm so incredibly blessed to be part of this group of strong women who each and everyone has been through so much and still have such amazing faith in God, they inspire me tremendously.

Praying for others brings you joy and peace that praying for yourself cannot give you. In the book that I had to read The Circle Maker the talked about prayer warriors who prayed for everyone else and their prayers didn't get answered right away yet they kept on taking a knee for everyone else.   That is exactly what is happening in our small group of prayer warriors.   In the past month, a house has sold, someone lost their job and was offered a new one within a week.   Heath issues have gotten better, spirits have risen and friendships have been sealed for a lifetime.   Some prayers are still being said daily, waiting on Gods timing, some are being answered even though we don't see it or know it.  Other prayers might be going in a different direction than what had been asked, yet we all know, God's plan is so much bigger and better than ours.

I believe in prayer, I don't doubt God's omnipresent, I don't doubt his love for his people, I don't doubt he wants best for everyone.  It doesn't always turn out how we pray for.   19 years ago today, I lost my first nephew.  He was 7 years old and an angel.   I prayed with fervent prayer, knowing God would heal this sweet boy.   God had other plans, he passed away within months of finding out he was ill.  I will admit I questioned God, I had faith of a mustard see, that's all it takes yet, God knew what was best.   I won't say I fully understand but I will admit that his life would have always been a struggle.  He wouldn't have lived like we do, he would be always have to have care.   Same for my 2nd nephew, my friends son, my love, my soul mate.   God knew when to take them home and why, it's not ours to question but ours to be thankful that we got to love them and cherish them every day in our hearts.

No, our prayers aren't always answered how we want, but how it's best for others and for ourselves.   Gods plan is always bigger and better.
