My New Favorite People
Today I met my 2 new favorite people. D and M are volunteers for RMHC in the family room at Children's and I was lucky enough to get to "shadow" these two amazingly wonderful, caring and hilarious women. D had me laughing every time she opened her mouth, I don't think she realizes that stand up could easily be in her near future. As far as M, a more gentler, warmer, more giving woman, you cannot find. At 79 and 69 yrs old (respectively), you would think these two would be winding down, slowing down at least, but no, these two women are living as though they are 50, heck, 45 because I don't have as much life as they do at 48!
D turns 80 next month, to be honest, I thought she was in her late 60s max, she is young and spry and full of laughter. I heard once that the way to look young is to belly laugh at least once a day, after meeting D, I believe it! She is the most beautiful 80 year old I've ever met. She is headed to Vegas in June , she's going to go see the Chip n Dales with her grand daughters. Yeah, I want to be like D when I'm 80!!!
M, now if anyone goes to heaven, it'll be M and Aunt Milon, by far two of the most genuine, caring, kindest, honest women I've ever met. You can see her goodness shine out of her as soon as you walk in the room, it's not just the smile on her face, it's her whole spirit glowing. Wow, to be like M!!!
I'm so grateful that I went WAY out if my comfort zone and have volunteered at RMHC , I know it'll be a blessing beyond belief. I wish I could thank the person who encouraged me to give of myself to this organization, hopefully one day he'll know. I also started with Make a Wish a few weeks ago and was finally able to give some time to Safe Connections this past week. What a great new beginning again, this has been!!
Stepping out of my comfort zone was scary at first, yet now, walking into a room full of strangers doesn't bother me at all. I know that I can easily walk up to anyone and start a conversation, all I have to do is make the first move. Gosh, had I know this was in me years ago, whew.......yet, I had to go through that fire to burn away my past, my fears, my imperfections. As far as my present, it is fantastic and my future.....whoa, look out world, who knows, I might do open mic one night myself , I mean after all, I am HILARIOUS.
