I Woke Up Today
I woke up today. That's all, nothing more, my eyes opened, I took a breath
..how blessed am I. You're reading this, that means you too woke and for this reason, we should be thankful.
I take every breath for granted, ok, let me rephrase, I TOOK every breath for granted. Today, I say thank you God for waking me, allowing me another day. Another day to learn, grow, to see what I need to change in me, to be a blessing to others and to simply thank you God for this day.
Yesterday, I watched "The Passion of The Christ" again, such a moving movie. Whether you believe that Jesus is the son of God or not (and I do) as a Mom, knowing that Mary had to watch her flesh and blood be tortured, struck, beaten and ridiculed to his death, brings pain to my heart. To know that for me, a believer, that this human man, Jesus son of God, allowed himself to go through unimaginable pain so that I could wake this morning without judgment and sin, brings me to my knees in humble thanksgiving.
I grew up with "Bible thumpers", "Jesus freaks", "Holy rollers", people who constantly threw scripture at you in condemnation. Speaking God's word yet never listening to what they were saying. I won't do that, ever. I will never condemn someone for their belief, it's not my place. My place in this world is to show love, forgiveness , to be strong and courageous, to be resilient and faithful. I will pray for people, for God to show them what God needs them to see, not what I think they should see. I will not preach at you, I will simply talk with you if you ask, I will be open and honest about my faith, my life and my God. Otherwise, I will live a life of peace and love, being thankful for what I have, praying that I do what is right by others.
My wish for you, whoever is reading this, that you know that you are loved, that you woke this morning for a purpose, that you are important enough to get another day to shine.
